Sentani, Jubi – The Grime Nawa Valley Indigenous Peoples’ Plan for Orya Water Power Plant (PLTA), in Genyem, Jayapura District, is undertaken. Instead, they made a declaration of compensation filed with President Joko Widodo.

The declaration initiated by representatives of the four major tribes who inhabit the Grime valley of the Elseng tribe, the Namblong tribe, the Gresi tribe, and the Orya tribe, are held at Genyem on Saturday (October 14).

The Declaration was attended by Vice Chairman of the Indigenous Peoples Institute (LMA) Papua, Hertog Waisimon; Dewan Adat Papua, Ferdinand Okoseray; chairman of the declaration committee, Zeblum Waisimon; Kaptek Kemtuk Gresi, Philip Klemen; and representatives of PT PLN (Persero) Papua and West Papua (WP2B ), Oni Reba.

Laurens says the core of this declaration is that the local community asks President Joko Widodo to issue a special order or regulation of river line boundary compensation.

Representing the local community, Laurens Yaung expressed his disappointment at the absence of five members of the Jayapura district parliament, who are representatives of Grime valley, who were accused to be less concerned about their aspirations.

“People are disappointed when they are officially invited to this event, but no one is present and appreciate our invitation,” he said.

The Vice Chairman of the Papua LMA, Hertog Waisimon, ensures that the declaration will be brought to President Jokowi for discussion by the President’s special staff.

“This declaration is the first in Indonesia and can be used as a reference,” he said.

In his speech to hundreds of people, Hertog Waisimon said President Jokowi paid special attention to the problems of Papua through the special staff of the President, Lenis Kogoya.

“So there should be no misfortune, but must go through professional and dignified ways, because the people of Grime valley are good-minded and intellectual people,” said Hertog Waisimon.(tabloidjubi.com/Zely)
