Jayapura, Jubi – Speakers for the Regional Representatives Council (DPRD) in the regencies of Nabire, Paniai, Dogiyai, and Deiyai have yet to be appointed and their absence affects on development in those areas, said a tribal youth leader.

“DPRDs could not carry out the duties and functions optimally, due to the absence of definitive leadership, even though the councils were installed five months ago,” the chairman of the Mee Tribal Youth Communication Forum (FKPSM) of Papua Province, Menase Nawipa, Decki Degei said in Nabire last week.

He urged acting chair persons of DPRD, secretary of the Parliament Board (Sekwan) and leaders of political parties to immediately appoint speakers.
“If its establishment and inaugurations as well as the process of issuing the decree (SK) is overextended, it will be fatal to the development. The community will read the performance of leadership of political parties and it can impact to the upcoming legislative elections in 2019.

In a separate place, chairman deputy of Nabire Parliament, Anselm Petrus Youw urged the leaders of political parties and secretary of Parliament board in Nabire to immediately conduct a special session for establishing definitive chairman.
“Until now there has been no chair of Parliament throughout the stages of the election activities of regent and regent deputy. This is a new history happened in this country, “he said. (AbethYou/ Tina)
