Regional military chief Maj. Gen. Christian Zebua said the number of personnel accounted for one third of approximately 15,000 soldiers in Papua and West Papua.
“We are ready to help police in securing the next elections,” Zebua said on Sunday (30/3).
Previously, Papua police chief Inspector. Gen. Tito Karnavian said Papua police are deploying about two thirds of personnel and has shifted some officers to a number of police stations in Papua and West Papua in an operation code named 2014 Matoa Brata Steady Operation.
Some district polices (Polres) also requested for Mobile Brigade police ( Brimob) and Crowd Control Unit ( Dalmas) personnel.
