Health Workers Serve Community on Roadside As Clinic Blocked

Jayapura, Jubi / Antara – Land owners have blocked the entrance to a health center in Hedam district, Jayapura city on Monday (5/1), forcing health workers to serve patients on the side of a public road outside the clinic.

The scene drew public attention because it caused a traffic jam on the highway.

Members of the Team of Health Development Agency in Papua (UP2KP) visited the clinic try to solve the dispute.

The secretary of UP2KP, Krisifu Alexander, who led the team, confirmed that the health center has beenblocked by the land owners since morning around 08:00 am.

It was not clear when the blockage would end. The landowners demanded chief of Medical officer of Jayapura to resolve it by settling land compensation down.

“Landowners said that they have never met the head of Jayapura City to come and solve the problem, otherwise they will continue to block the entrance of health center,” he said. (*/Tina)
