Jayapura, Jubi – District Military Commander of 1701 Jayapura, Lt. Col. (Inf) Yoyo Pranowo said fighting between soldiers and police in Jayapura was caused by misunderstanding and should not be politicized.

“I hope this case will not be politicized again. I believe all parties realize that it’s just one or two persons. The suspects have been handed over to the military police for investigation. They will be punished if found guilty, he said,
“For the cause of death, we submit to the law and medicine, in order to check properly. The military never protect members who are guilty, because it is also detrimental not only military institution, but also the country, “he added. The military also expressed its condolences to the victims.

While Jayapura City Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Superintendent) Jermias Runtini said it handed over the settlement of the issue in accordance to the law.
