DOB Could Spark Conflicts, Official says


Jayapura, Jubi – The process to establish New Autonomous Region (DOB) in Province Papua is often followed by other issues that could potentially cause conflicts between the DOB team and local community.

“Any problems related to DOB must be solved for not decreasing the quality of public service, or creating conflict among the local people who domiciled in or near the proposed DOB,” the Papua Second Assistant Elia Loupatty said when opening the Socialization on Procedure and Mechanism of the DOB Establishment at Hotel Matoa Jayapura on Tuesday (28/10).

“A failure of the development planning would result the development failure. And it would be success if supported by good process and well planning which able to synergy the people’s need,” Loupatty said.

Earlier, the Papua Governor Lukas Enembe said he would agree with the DOB if it was in accordance to current regulation before forwarded to the National Parliament. “About DOB, I often asked to review those who passed the procedure and mechanism,” Governor Enembe said. (Alexander Loen/rom)
