Bandung, Jubi – Siliwangi III Military Regional Commander Major General Dedi Kusnadi Thamim appealed to people to not be provoked or intimidate Papuans living in West Java and Banten following the Tolikara incident in Papua.
“People must not intimidate our brothers from Papua who live here (West Java and Banten). Let’s embrace them (Papuans)” Kusnadi said after a morning roll call and guidance to the Siliwangi Military soldiers at Siliwangi Stadium, Bandung on Thursday (23/7/2015).
He urged the personnel and civil servants and their families not to be easily provoked by the incident that occurred in Tolikara, Papua on July 17.
Instead, he added better they participate to comfort the atmosphere around their environment and be clear to avoid the hatred against fellow citizens.
Siliwangi Military Regional Command has anticipated the Tolikara incident do not spread to West Java-Banten region by improving the coordination and communication towards certain parties to ensure the safety and security.
“I have said to regional head, resort and district military commanders to be positive in dealing with this issue. Then I invited the religious, community and youth leaders to avoid the same incident to be happened in Siliwangi Military Regional Command,” Dedi said.
He added on Wednesday (22/7), his office has conducted a gathering with Forum of Religious Harmony (FKUB) that commit to create a safe situation and not influenced with Tolikara incident.
“FKUB has agreed to the same incident would not be happened here,” he said. (*/rom)
