Jayapura, 3/3 (Jubi) – Residents in Degeuwo village in Paniai, Papua, are likely to be included in the additional voter list in the upcoming legislative election on April 9, the chairman of the Papua General Elections Commission (KPU Papua), Adam Arisoy, said .
“They were not on the list due to a lack of population data . They are outsiders who live in Degeuwo for panning work,” he said on Monday (3/3).
“Now, KPU in Papua and Paniai is working on whether they will enter the number of additional voters or not,” he explained.
Earlier, Paniai Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Ronny Semmy TH Abaa said the number of residents in Degeuwo was between 2,000 and 3,000.
“This is because the location is remote. In addition, some village official facilities are not functioning well. But this time, the Paniai regent is trying to make a representative office there,” Ronny said when met in Jayapura, Papua on Wednesday (26/2).
“They did not exercise their voting rights several times as they were not recorded,” he said.
He said he hopes KPU will decide to set up special polling stations (TPS) for unregistered voters. (Jubi / Indrayadi TH/ Tina)
