Jayapura, 7/3 (Jubi) – The Papuan Legislative Council ( DPRP) will set a special bylaw (Perdasus) concerning on the the flow of migrants into Papua which grows faster each year.
“I do not know exactly how much of the population growth in Papua each year yet obviously it significantly increases from year to year. Hence, it is necessary to set special bylaw (Perdasus) ” spokesman of DPRP, Deerd Tabuni said on Friday (7/3).
According Tabuni, nowadays, people come to Papua without a clear destination. Seemingly, they first just come to visit, or look for job then settled.
“Surprisingly, people from outside Papua could have a national identity card (KTP) and a family card after been in Papua for two or three days only. Moreover, there is a person who has not arrived yet, he/ she already had a KTP, “he said.
For example in Jayapura, the population continues to increase fast annually and it can be seen increasingly dense residential areas in the city.
“Jayapura city is the entrance of Papua. Many of the problems which should be considered together. Municipality government should carefully record its population. If there is a new resident, she/ he must have a clear purpose, “he said.
If someone will move from Jayapura city to another town or regencies within Papua, he/ she has to have a letter that mention about it. If there is just a vacation or other purposes, then it should be clear how long he/ she will be in Papua.
” This must be regulated. We also have the goal to set Perdasus regarding population in Papua. The position of local or indigenous population should be considered and do not let them marginalized, “he said. (Jubi / Arjuna/ Tina)
