Sorong, Jubi – A member of the House- Representatives, Jopi Kardinal (RJK), said he suspected that shenanigans are behind rumors of a lower quota of subsidized fuel for fishermen in Sorong.
“I believe State- owned oil and gas giant PT Pertamina will not limit the quota of fuel for fishermen,” he said during a visit in Sorong, on Monday (10/8/2015).
He asked the Fisheries Department to file additional quota of fuel to the Pertamina in accordance with the number of registered fishermen in Sorong. “So that we can review the fuel subsidy requests through discussion in the Parliament,” he said.
Upon returning from West Papua, there will be hearings related to fuel quota for fishermen. He will fight for the fate of fishermen since he had heard their complaints directly.
“Our fishermen have difficulty to get subsidized fuel quota. This is because the manager of the gas station perverted fishermen using jerry-cans of which were taken somewhere,” he said.
Sukimin, one of the fishermen in Sorong hoped it will be realized . ” We are tired of empty promises of the political elite,” he said. (Niko MB)
