COMMISION E OF DPRP : REGENTS IN PAPUA NEED TO BE CONSISTENT ON EDUCATION FUNDING DISTRIBUTION

Jayapura , 20/1 ( Jubi ) – Commission E of the Papua Legislative Council ( DPRP ) on Education affairs asked the regents in Papua to be consistent with the distribution of 30 percent of Special Autonomy funds distribution for education .
Chairman of the Council’s Commission E , Kenius Kogoya said , the policy of distribution 80-20 percent of autonomy funds is allowed but must be relevant to Special Regional Regulations ( Perdasus) where we will find out which one is Government obligation , which one is regency/city obligation are necessary and not.
” It’s important . The most urgent about 30 percent of education funding, we hope the regents consistent where 30 percent of the special autonomy funds for education . Illiteracy , and other early childhood education should be allocated with the budget.” said Kenius Kogoya , Monday ( 20/1 ) .
According to him, Commission E will monitor whether 30 percent of Special Autonomy funds will be distributed well or not to the regencies .
“Otherwise we will report to the governor for sanctions . He also added that the next could be no longer able to fund 80 percent of special autonomy. 80 percent of Special Autonomy goes to the regencies is huge. The amount of money for each area is varied depending on the size of territory and the total of population. For example if there is Rp,100 billion meaning that about 30 percent from Rp . 300 million is for education .” he said .
Earlier, the mayor of Jayapura , Benhur Tommy Mano said that the quality of education especially in Jayapura city needs to be improved .
“Don’t play with me because I am concerned and care with education in Jayapura . If you do not like , make a note , I am ready to move you to the area or district that might help the development of education. ” said Tommy Mano .
Mano also requested that the staff of the Department of Education has to shows the quality of education with good teachers, enhance spatial learning and educational facilities.
” I want education and schools in this city to be better and developed by creating a new innovation . In 2014,there should be a change not only the teachers but the school and the board as well, for the sake of students and the quality of education at all levels.” he said . ( Jubi / Arjuna/Tina )
