Jayapura, 6/1 (Jubi) – Chairperson of the Parliament of Papua, Deerd Tabuni, stated that the West Papua Liberation Army of West Papua Freedom Movement (TPN-OPM) had never ask for money. Their struggle is for the ideology.
He said that sometime ago the Regent of Puncak Jaya claimed that Mr. Goliat Tabuni, the Chief Commander of West Papuan Liberation Army has requested twenty billion rupiah, but it was not true. There are certain parties who want to take advantage by profiteering the name of the West Papua Freedom Movement.
“The Regent said GT asked for twenty billion rupiah and it turns out that there are those who just want to take the advantage by profiteering the name of the West Papua Liberation Army because they had never asked for money,” Deerd Tabuni said, Monday (6/1).
Further he suspected the attacking of the police station in Kulirik Sub-district of Puncak Jaya last time was happened because of the liberation army was angry and disappointed.
“I think the motive behind the attacking of the police station last time because the liberation army was angry trope was angry. They felt disappointed because during the times they always talked about the ideology, not for making money for the living,” he said.
He also said that he did not know what kind of members of the liberation army who rumored was being handover even though the Regent of District of Puncak Jaya has claimed about 100 members of West Papua Liberation Army have surrendered, and the government has provided them a job as the Civil Service Police Unit.
“We regret it. There should be a good communication between all parties because the members of West Papua Liberation Army were so many. The Regent should be responsible about the case of the attacking of the police station instead of accused that was leaded by the Tabuni’s men. So the question is which part of West Papua Liberation Army who decided to surrender,” said the Chairperson of the Parliament of Papua.
Furthermore, Deerd said that the Parliament of Papua also encouraged all parties including the Indonesian Army and Police to sit together for addressing the issue on the attacking of the police station. The Regent should able to perform the well communication with the local community.
“People are always projected as a project for making money. If there were no problem there will be no money. If there were a problem there will come the money,” added Deerd Tabuni. (Jubi/Arjuna/P. Maizier)
