Sorong, 22 /6 ( Jubi ) – A case file of a syndicate who allegedly supplied firearms to an armed group in Puncak Jaya has been transferred from Papua High Prosecutor’s Office to the Sorong Prosecutor’s Office.
The Sorong Prosecutor Office received the file on Thursday (19/6), said its head of the general crime division.
“We will review the case first before the trial,” he said.
Papua Prosecutor Yupiter Selan said the case was transferred because the suspect has been detained since May in Sorong when the suspect fled from Ternate to Jayapura.
“The suspect actually wanted his case to be processed in Jayapura, but he was arrested in Sorong so we must hand over it to the Sorong Court for trial,” he said.
The suspect was suspected as a member of a firearm syndicate that supplied guns to armed group and also the Free Papua Movement (OPM) in Puncak Jaya. ( Jubi/ Nees/rom )
