Peoples in Yahukimo before the election (Jubi)
Jayapura, 30/4 (Jubi) – A Papuan legislator from Yahukimo Regency, Sinut Busup criticized Regent Ones Pahabol for saying that the performance of the local election commission is the worst in Indonesia.
He said the Regent should not claim the Yahukimo Election Commission as the poorest since as the local head; he play a role to determine if the vote in his regency a success or failure.
“So who’s fault? Is it the local chairmen of the political parties, people or the commission? I cannot accept if he said the Yahukimo Election Commission is the worst in Indonesia,” Busup said on Wednesday (30/4).
He further said ballot distribution in Yahukimo was delayed due to the delay in releasing the budget .
The local election commission always said they have no budget and Yahukimo is too isolated.
“When the logistics arrived at Yahukimo last time, the Sub-district Election Commission (PPD) brought and gave it to the particular candidates. It raised a problem then. The members of PPD did it. They sold the voting,” he said.
Busup further said he could accept if the statement was coming from the NGO but not from the Regent.
“So the Regent must apologize to avoid the statement is becoming a polemic among the community. If he thought the performance of Yahukimo is poor, he has also contributed to it,” he said.
Earlier, Pahabol said the performance of Yahukimo Election Commission is the worst in Indonesia.
“There are several indicators for reference, such as the process of logistic distribution to the voting recapitulation. Even there are suspicions of manipulation at the expense of some political parties and candidates. This incredible game will result in a conflict,” said Pahabol. (Jubi/Arjuna/rom)
