Jayapura, 24/5 (Jubi) – A businessman in Jayapura reported a journalist to police for allegedly defrauding him of 1.5 billion rupiah.
According to a police report dated Wednesday, Jean Paul Kabey alleged that that the journalist, identified as LDS, promised to help him win a road project from the Public Works Department with a value of Rp. 1.5 billion.
Kabey decided to joined the project but then he was asked for some money by way of installment via short massage service (SMS) banking and ATM of Mandiri Bank roughly Rp. 500 million. After LDS got Rp.500 million, he then asked the victim to prepare Rp 1 billion. The victim fulfilled LDS’s request by handing it at Grand Hotel Abepura. However, Kabey later found out that the project did not exist at all.
Jayapura Police chief, Assistant Commissioner Police Alfred Papare said that he will look at the case.
“Later, we’ll see from the report, if it is true then we will check. Now it is still under investigation,” Papare said on Saturday (24/5).
Meanwhile, LDS claimed that the report is false. “I have evidence and I will show it later” LDS said. (Jubi /Indrayadi TH/ Tina)
