Jakarta, Jubi – An Indonesian Military soldier (TNI) was shot by an armed group in Kampung Mamba, Intan Jaya Regency, Papua on Feb. 12. The soldier, Chief Pvt. Hendra Sipayung sustained an injury in his side temple.
“It happened at 3:15 pm,” Cenderawasih Military Command chief Maj. Gen. Ignasius Yogo Triyono said as quoted by CNN Indonesia.
The TNI later brought Hendra to the Bilogai community health center to get help. The commander of Military Resort 173, Brig. Gen. Iwan Setiawan, said the shooting happened when Hendra and his friend were shopping at a stall in front of Sugapa Preparatory Military District Command.

“Suddenly, two civilians riding a motorcycle went past, one took out a gun and shot Hendra while they fled the scene,” said Iwan.
Hendra had been sent to the province’s capital in Jayapura and treated at Marthen Indey Hospital. Iwan said they could not identify which group the perpetrator belonged to. He claimed there were several armed groups in Intan Jaya.
