Jayapura 1/2 (Jubi) – A suspected member of the National Liberation Army (TPN)- Free Papua Movement (OPM) named Yohasua Arampayai (38) was shot dead in a weapon battle with the military and police in the region Sasawan-Yapen Islands,Yapen Islands, Regency on Saturday morning, February 1 at 10.30 ( local time).

Papua Police Public Relations Head, Police Commissioner Pudjo Sulistyo Hartono has confirmed the skirmishes between the Army / Police and Armed Criminal Group (KKB) . He explained that the crossfire between the TNI / police and a group called the Armed Criminal since received information that the group was doing the High Level Conference (Summit) in the region of Sasawa Yapen Islands.

“From the gunfire, the security forces succeeded in killing one of them named Yohasua Arampay (38). Furthermore, the security forces succeeded to control the area so directly conducting searches in these locations.” he said.
Pudjo explained, after the gunfire, now the condition is getting conducive and the community activities run smoothly. However, the security forces continue to conduct security to avoid any retaliation from the group shootout with security forces.
“The situation is now safe. While the eleven people who have already secured are still under examination by the investigator Criminal Police Yapen Islands. The chances are they will be brought to the Papua police headquarters for further review.” he added.
