A young man while being investigated by Jayapura Police (Jubi)
Sentani, 4/2 (Jubi) – A young man who admitted as a student of University of Kristen Indonesia ( UKI) Jakarta and carried 8 ammunition and firearms types of U.S. Carabin 8.4 is being investigated by Jayapura Police.
Chief of Jayapura Police, AKBP Roycke Harry Langie that represented by the Deputy Chief of Police ( Wakapolres) Kompol Gustav Urbinas said that the evidences and the young man who brought the ammunition is still detained at Mako, Jayapura police station located in Doyo.
“It is better to inform you for more details after conducting investigation.” he said to tabloidjubi.com at Jayapura police station on Tuesday (4/2).
He explained that this case requires further elaboration process.
Earlier, the Chief of Police Sector, Sentani Airport Region, Iptu Abraham Soumilena said that a young man of 30 years, initials KDM was detained at Police Sector at Sentani Airport after caught carrying eight ammunition types Firearms U.S. Carabin (Jenggel) caliber 8.4.
“When the subject was going to get into the departure lounge, the X-ray found in his bag ammunition used for a firearm types caliber 8.4 U.S. Carabin. ” he said to tabloidjubi.com in a separate place.
He further explained that the ammunition is commonly used for type of U.S. Carabin (Jenggel) which is ancient weapons or small firearms. The young man was arrested when he arrived at Sentani airport from Jakarta taking Lion Air JT794.
“The subject planned to continue his flight to Paniai. However, he must be detained since found 8 ammunition caliber 8.4 U.S Carabin. This could be done because cooperative works from the security” he said.
He added that the young man arrived at Sentani airport at 07:35 ( Papua time), transited and planned to go to Nabire by Wings Air.
“The young man actually introduced himself as a student yet we did not find his student card. Because of not showing us a complete proof of identity, we finally detained him right away. ” he concluded. (Jubi / D. Budiman/ Tina)
