Jayapura, 10/3 (Jubi) – About 20,000 people have been removed from the voter list because they were listed as voters in two different locations.

“The last temporary data showed the number of voters was 3,199,000. It has been reduced because 20,000 voters were double registered and automatically erased by system,” the chairman of the Election Commission of Papua, Adam Arisoy said on Monday (10/3) in Jayapura.

On  voters who do not have  identity numbers, he said they had several days ahead to make improvements and the number of voters is likely to increase.

“They will be listed if they have the ID card otherwise they will be removed from the list,” he said.

Earlier, the chairman of Bawaslu (Election Monitoring Board) of Papua, Robert Horik, said voting roll in Papua was not final because there were reports of a significant increase of the voters in several sub-districts in Puncak Jaya Regency.
“We had a report from Elvis Tabuni, a candidate of the election of local heads in Puncak Jaya Regency in February 2013. He complained about the significant increase of the voters’ number in several sub-districts. We still have a month to prepare,” he said. (Jubi/Arjuna/rom)
