Papua Police and Mobile Brigade were deployed to secure a demonstration in Jayapura (Jubi)
Jayapura , 2/4 ( Jubi ) – Forty Brimob ( Mobile Brigade ) personnel from, Jayapura are ready to deploy in Ilaga , Puncak regency, police said.
Puncak Jaya Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Marselis Sarimin to tabloidjubi.com on Wednesday said forty Brimob personnel will be placed in Puncak only .
While in Puncak Jaya regency 135 police are on standby for the legislative elections ( Pileg ). They will back up the army .
“Forty personnel are from Satpor ( Pioneers Unit ) Police Headquarters , while the rest are all from the Mobile Brigade Detachment A Kotaraja , Jayapura ,” he explained.
Regarding the internal security situation, Sarimin said that condition in Puncak Jaya is still favorable.
“However we can not say that the situation is 100 percent safe. Illegal weapons are still in circulation, but we do everything possible to stop it ,” he said.
Election supplies arrived in Ilaga, Puncak on Tuesday ( 1 /4), while in Puncak Jaya , they will be dropped at polling locations in the villages by Thursday ( 3/ 4), according to him.
As reported by the media earlier on Friday ( 28/3 ) , Papua Police Public Relations Head , Sr. ( Pol ) Sulistyo Pudjo Hartono , said the highest concentration of security personnel during the elections will be in Manokwari, with total 133 Mobile Brigade personnel, followed by 100 personnel in Mimika.
